What a great day to be a live and celebrating. Rachelle and I celebrated at PJ Murphys. I had a GIANT frosted, sprinkled long jonathan, and she has a very poofy raised glazed. I also got a choco frosted choco cake donut for later. I am actually going to go get it right now and eat it as I type…

Many people today have wished me a happy national donut day; to you, thank you. Some people have asked me if I know about this day and post it on my wall or send an email showing it to me like they have just discovered this thing that only they could know about and are so excited to be the first one to tell me about; to you, thank you for the thought, but you are ridiculous. OF COURSE I know about National Donut Day, and OF COURSE I have been celebrating it for years and years. I am very glad that you will being celebrating it too.

Who knew the midwest ate the most donuts by such a large margin? Go us.

In addition to eating as many donuts as I want not matter how full I get today, I will also be celebrating with a nap and finishing my book that I started on Tuesday which is so good I can barely put down, and when I do, still think about it anyway. (The Hunger Games! ***This book, while it sounds like it could be a great book to read on Donut Day because it is about hunger, it is not about hunger o donuts, so do not be disappointed if you start reading it thinking you will be in for that kind of treat.)

Holiday weekend donuts

I know that I usually only eat donuts on Fridays, but yesterday Davey and Rachelle brought me a delicious custard filled, choco frosted long Jonathan from Tobie’s* on their way back from being up north. I couldn’t resist it, and of course, didn’t want to hurt their feelings by refusing their gift. The choco frosting is soooo smooth and creamy, and the custard is unbeatable. MMM.

Today bff Jake and I were discussing donut cults. I know this sounds weird, but it is actually relevant, sort of, to the conversation we were having about our Estates books being blasted into space. Once the idea of cults came up, I thought I would only ever want to be in one if the premise was just to always eat donuts. One thing led to another, and before you knew it, bff Jake was goog imaging “donut cults”. I have attached the pictures that were either most relevant or most irrelevant and in general just awesome.

Yesterday’s donut was brought to me by L’Appetito near the John Hancock Center. It was a delicious cake donut with chocolate frosting. I have never been there for a pastry before. They sure had a lot of different baked goods choices, but most were muffins, cookies, cupcakes, scones, and other little novelties; there were only two donuts to choose from, so I went with the one with choco on it. While it was delicious and doughy, there really was nothing special* about this cake donut. But I still enjoyed it quite a bit.

I had an interesting time eating this donut. Half of my mouth was numb from being at the dentist directly before, and the other half was sore from being at the dentist the day before. So I didn’t really chew the donut, I felt more like i was gently gumming at it like an infant. I ended up with some choco on my shirt, but that seems pretty standard, and probably had nothing to do with the fact that I couldn’t eat properly. Hopefully it didn’t look as ridiculous as it felt.

Stay tuned next week for my last donut day living in chicago.

*Dont be deceived by a donut that is “nothing special”. A not as special donut is really still more special than any other food.

P.S. Birthday shout out to Dr. French Fusion, Pharm.D.!! I hope its a good one!
